Who we are

The Utah Doula Access Project (UDAP) is a community-based doula organization in Utah working to increase access to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support for people who have historically been excluded from care.

UDAP provides accessible doula services through Medicaid coverage, community donations, and scholarship funding, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to support. We believe doula care is essential healthcare—not a luxury—and should be available to all people, regardless of income, insurance status, or life circumstances.

We work with pregnant and postpartum individuals across Utah, with a focus on communities facing systemic barriers to care, including:

  • People impacted by substance use disorder

  • Unhoused pregnant and parenting individuals

  • Those who are incarcerated or recently released

  • Individuals navigating the immigration systems

  • Families experiencing medical, social, or economic instability

Our doulas are trained in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and high-risk pregnancy support. We collaborate with clinics, hospitals, social workers, and community organizations to provide nonjudgmental doula care that centers dignity, informed choice, and respect.

At UDAP, our work is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—especially during moments of vulnerability. We listen, we educate, we advocate, and we walk alongside people as they navigate systems that are often difficult to access alone.
